The Atlantic Social Innovation Observatory consists on an action-think tank and a monitoring tool to provide content on social innovation through knowledge transfer, dissemination of news, reports, articles, and statistical information regarding the Atlantic Area and Europe.

One of the central dilemmas in social innovation is the value produced, since it does not easily translate into quantifiable benefits, therefore, social innovation should create a measurable improvement in terms of outcomes. To promote this aspect, the Observatory will act as a “Social Innovation Lighthouse” providing regular evidence on the latest trends in social innovation, including how innovative solutions are being developed and brought to deliver solutions to social needs.

The observatory may help policy-makers, regional and local authorities, and practitioners to evaluate the impact of new initiatives, as well as giving recommendations on how to scale-up specific social innovations.
